Golden Lion for Career Achievement

Leone d'oroThe Golden Lion for Career Achievement is an award given out at the Venice Film Festival to people in the world of film who stand out in the field of cinema because of their body of work in this art. It stands side-by-side with the Golden Lion, and it could be said it is the ultimate award.

Instituted in 1971, the acknowledgement that proceeded it in 1969 and in 1970 was a “tribute”. None were assigned from 1973 to 1981 and in 1984. Before that, homage of this kind came in the form of a retrospective.
